I had a hair transplant procedure of 2,400 grafts done by Shaft Medical in February of 2013. The procedure performed was the FUE procedure. I chose this because of the non linear scar from this procedure, of which I have had 3 linear strip procedures done in the past. The first being done in 1997, the second in 1999, and third in 2000, so I have some experience in the procedure. During the procedure the doctor was not around. He would stop in to check the procedure from time to time, but was not there to oversee any of the operation. During the procedure I noticed how the tech was injecting me quite often and I could hear a crunching/tearing noise during each injections and was not familiar with what was happening. So I questioned the tech as to what he was doing, he replied that he was injecting saline under the skin to stretch the area so that he is able to make the incisions for the grafts closer together. Because of this, when I left the office I had a massive amount of swelling because of all the additional fluid under my skin.

During the healing time I noticed that the scabs of from the graft area had more substance to them than what was normal during the healing of my previous procedures. So I sent emails to the doctor with images showing what the scabs looked like, asking him if this was normal. I did not receive any response to these emails. It wasn't until the third email, where I made a threat to post negatively about my experience, that I finally received a response from the doctor. He of course was surprised to hear about my issues and wanted to do something about it. I told the doctor all I wanted was for him to take a look at how the procedure had taken. I then set up an appointment to go the the doctors office so he could assess the results. Upon visiting his office he acknowledged that the results where less than normal, which about 40% of the grafts had produced growth in the front area and less in the back. He asked me if I had swelling from the procedure and when I mentioned to him the experience I had with the techs who did the procedure, he acted surprised and said he had never heard of anyone injecting saline under the skin to cause the grafts to be closer together. He also said this would definitely cause a problem, because the pressure from the saline under the scalp would cause the donor grafts to be pushed out of there sites. Because of this he offered to do another procedure of 1,000 grafts at no charge. I took the doctor up on this offer and scheduled the next procedure.

At this next procedure another group of techs were there to perform the procedure. According to the doctor these where his preferred people and said when he gets grafts done, they will be the ones he will be using. Before the procedure started I told the techs that the right side of my head has more hair than my left and that the back of my head has the least amount of hair. But instead of listening to me and trusting that I know my head and my hair best, they ignored what I said and took almost all of the hair from the back left side of my head, which is exactly the area I said had the least amount of hair. Now after this second procedure I have an obvious patch on the left side on the back of my head where the scalp and previous linear scare are more visible than the right side. Which of course can not be repaired and I now have to live with this.

I'm not covering my booty up this summer, because Shaft Medical took my cellulite away! It was painless and quick. I saw results just after one treatment. This is the first cellulite treatment out of several that I've tried, and has actually worked! Finally money well spent just in time for summer.

I found this place because I bought a living social deal to do laser hair removal. I have loved coming. The treatments are working really well. I've discovered latisse for my eyelashes, although they still aren't as long as the nurses yet... I also have gotten botox and lip injections. It took a week for me to see the results of the botox, but now I am loving it and I never want my wrinkles to come back! You can tell they really know what they are doing. I feel so much better about myself. I have always wanted to have my lips done, but didn't want to look worked on. I now have the full lips that I always wanted. I can't wait to go visit my hometown and show off a little! I really appreciate this place.

I took my teenage daughter to see the doctor at Shaft..She had very severe acne that seemed to not be curable. We had spent a fortune on over the counter acne treatments and nothing worked.

Shaft SanDiego was wonderful when they did the newest form of hair transplant on my son Justin. They explained everything, and made sure Justin understood everything before he left the office. The doctor himself called to check on Justin and that says volumes about the fact that they care about the Client not just the money! Justin already has some hair growth at the transplant site and the area they took he follicles from shows nothing! NO SCAR and his hair is already growing back. They were wonderful in every way.

These guys are great. The staff is friendly and professional and the office is super cool. They really make you feel comfortable.

The doctor really cares about the patient and not just dollar signs.---you can tell.
