"If i told my best friend about this place, I'd say" why don't you just put your head in the door frame and let me try to slam it.

Prices on inventory that i was looking at were ridiculously high, and by my expressions after seeing prices the workers took offense in how shocked I was and tried to inform me that I was fabricating prices when I was telling them the price I paid for the same stock just days prior in the same state of NC... which I also told the workers. We hit a real good point when I was asked where I was from and once it was stated that I was and out-of-state customer, I was told that I should go back to my home state and buy my ammo, even after I had already told them that I was referring to prices at another store.

There may have been a mistake in communication, and maybe I was thought to be trying to talk the price down, but I was directed the first question about the price that I had in mind by one of the workers. If I would have known that answering the question truthfully would have started a verbal battle about prices I would have walked out at that moment.

I understand that I'm not going to talk store prices down on ammunition, and i never did. I was just very surprised at the level of energy that was used to argue with me about how I am out of my mind and must be lying. I did not lie, and just as the workers told me, i will tell you (my friend), "...go to a department store and buy it(the product) then if it is less expensive." I followed the advice I was so kindly given and so should you(my friend), you will get prices that would be comparably 50% off.

Archery range looked nice though, and I'm all about small businesses.

(The above answer is what i would tell my best friend about this place)

The Firearms orientation class...

The Firearms orientation class is a “must take” prior to scheduling your CCH class. Without a doubt, I highly recommend that you invest in this class, (even persons with advanced skills). The wealth of knowledge and safety instruction you’ll receive will stick with you as you develop your firearms skills. For me, I was really impressed by the fact that Chuck keeps SAFETY number 1 at all times. SAFETY is at the top of my list when it comes to firearms.

Before this class I had only shot .22 caliber rifles and a couple of shotguns a few times. After taking the orientation course, I have learned that I am comfortable shooting handguns that range anywhere from a .22 caliber all the way up to a .45 caliber. Now, the hardest decision I have to make is which caliber do I want to purchase for my CCH.

I am glad that I found Bear Creek Gunshop and GunSmithing. I did my research for 2 months and ask many other respected individuals about the best place to receive CCH instruction and certification. When it was all said and done, I believe it was by devine intervention that I was led to Chuck and Peggy Elrod and their Bear Creek business. There was no intimatdating persons wondering why a “female” has come to a gun sporting facility. I was made very welcome at each and every visit. They answered many questions and I was most impressed to see that their website offers suggested resources to check out via Amazon.com.

Both Chuck and Peggy have definitely exceeded my expectations. They are professional and have a spirit of what I like to call “southern, hometown hospitality”. That is, creating an atmosphere of family, respect, trust and fun all roled in to one . Peggy and Chuck are very willing to assist in all your firearm needs. Which is one of the many reasons why I will continue to bring my business to them and Bear Creek Gunshop and GunSmithing. In fact, I am taking my 28 year old Marlin .22 caliber rifle to Chuck for some gunsmithing TLC. If you’re looking for firearms training, gunsmithing needs, gun or ammo purchases, then Bear Creek Gunshop and GunSmithing should be your #1 choice.

They refuse to budge on their ...

They refuse to budge on their unsafe firearms policy. They will not allow you to rack the slide on a firearm, much less dry-fire it...they will not even rack the slide in order to clear the weapon before handing it to you! For all you know, they could be handing you a loaded weapon! If you DO rack the slide; their policy stats that you just bought the gun. Ludicrous.
