- Quality Turf, Inc. is owned and operated by Alfred Wooten . A 1977 graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in Turfgrass Management, he is a North Carolina Certified Turf Professional with over 30 years of experience in the turfgrass industry. After earning his degree, Alfred spent ten years as a golf course superintendent, eight of which were as a Class A Superintendent. In 1985 , Alfred returned home to the family farm and began converting traditional row crops to turf. Quality Turf began a sod farm production in Maple Hill, North Carolina with 15 acres of sod on the small, Pender County farm that has been in the Wooten family for more than 200 years.

We offer nine different varieties of sod suitable for a range of conditions and uses, including athletic fields, golf courses, large commercial projects, and residential lawns. Our varieties include: 419 Bermuda, Celebration Bermuda, Tifdwarf Bermuda, Meyer Zoysia, Emerald Zoysia, Empire Zoysia, St. Augustine and Centipede We are proud members of the NC Sod Producers Association, Turfgrass Producers International, Turfgrass Council of NC, Green Industry Council, Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association and the NC Nursery and Landscape Association.

I ordered Bermuda sod this summer. When it arrived at our jobsite the sod was falling all to pieces. This sod was for a Model Home we were landscaping for a general contractor and it needed to look its best. When I called the office and told them the sod was falling to pieces, Amber (the girl who answers the phone) could have cared less. She made no apology or concession. I also told her their sod rolls were in the cages they provided for storage and were ready for pick up. She told me I would have to bring them back in order to get my refund. I asked why they wouldnt pick them up and she said they would if they were in the area but they had no plans to do so and they were our responsibility. The other 2 sod companies we buy from have no problem picking up our pallets & rolls for us. We have purchase $6000.00 worth of sod from them this year which is NOT a lot for a company, but imagine if I were a home owner and received this kind of treatment? Would you buy from them or recommend them to your friends? I think not...
